Nanci Sorin Collyer, was based in New York City for many years and relocated to La Quinta, CA, in 2003. In 2007 Nanci appeared in Derrik Lewis’ Musical Chairs “Salute to Tin Pan Alley” at the Palm Springs Annenberg and Indian Wells Theaters.
The Desert Theatre League nominated Nanci for Best Supporting Actress in Sondheim’s Putting It Together, and Best Lead Actress as Linda Porter in Red, Hot, and Cole, at the Joslyn Theatre, Palm Desert. In the 2006 season, the Joslyn Theater goers also loved her as Constance, the mad woman of the flea market, in Jerry Herman’s, Dear World. She has performed leading roles in Sound of Music, The King and I, and Sonia and Natalie in The Merry Widow.
Nanci has created and performed her sold out cabaret shows at Eighty-Eight’s Club, Judy’s Chelsea Cabaret, and The Firebird in NYC, as well as the Museum of The City Of New York, with Julie Wilson and KT Sullivan. In the words of critic Roy Sander of Back Stage (NYC), “Nanci combines stylish elegance and a spirit of fun”. Noted composer, John Wallowitch credits Nanci with “deep insight…comedic and dramatic… flair and panache”. She was nominated for the prestigious New York MAC award.
Nanci has appeared in ‘Pops Concerts’ and classical works with The North Carolina Symphony, The Fairlawn Symphony, and Oradell Symphony, of New Jersey. Her musical endeavors have lead to collaborations with such performers as Bernadette Peters, Tommy Tune, Hal LeRoy, Honi Cole, David Lewis, and Ron Rogers.
Nanci is currently offering private and group voice lessons remotely and in person.
